THE GIFT OF TIME

THE GIFT OF TIME

Hey fam, welcome back.ย
I hope the past week was awesome.ย
Two weeks ago, we talked about genuinely pausing and seeing ourselves (Beholding Self). Last week, it was about seeing others (Through Their Gaze).ย
Now, weโ€™re zooming out to something bigger: Time. “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1ย
People say time is money. Honestly, I donโ€™t see it that way. Money comes and goes. But time? Time is life. And life canโ€™t be repurchased.ย
Still, most of us treat time like a currency. We spend it, waste it, chase it. We run after deadlines, stress over productivity, and beat ourselves up when the day ends and our to-do list isnโ€™t empty.

But what if time isnโ€™t something to fight? What if time is more than a clock? What if time is a companion, teaching us to breathe, grow, and live?ย
Our world loves speed. Faster replies. Instant updates. Quick results. Somewhere along the line, โ€œslowโ€ started to feel like โ€œfailure.โ€ย
But think about it: growth takes time, healing takes time. Real creativity takes time. Deep friendships take time. If everything is rushed, then nothing is rooted.ย
As a writer, I used to feel behind all the time, behind on posts, behind on engagement, behind on goals. But one August, I paused. Not to quit, just to breathe and gather momentum.ย
That pause became one of my most creative seasons ever. It taught me this:

Time is not the enemy. Time is the space where transformation happens, and time is a gift.

Many of us have learned to utilize time; use it, spend it, manage it, but we havenโ€™t learned the discipline of setting time apart for rest.ย
We havenโ€™t mastered how important it is, even in the midst of our busy schedules, to make time to take a break and re-strategize as we gather ourselves together.ย

Some mornings, I write. Other mornings, I rest. And guess what? Both matter. Because burnout never birthed anything beautiful.ย

If weโ€™re honest, many of us already know how much of a break we need from what weโ€™re currently doing. We just need to take it and refocus on what truly matters.ย

Too much stress, in the name of making the best use of time, might actually be draining your productivity without you realizing it.ย

Know when to work, know when to take breaks. Know when to relax and relish all youโ€™ve done so that by the time youโ€™re back, youโ€™re refreshed.ย
Yes, itโ€™s important to be productive. But itโ€™s equally important to use your time to relax and renew yourself.ย
There are simple ways to slow down, behold time, and still grow. Here are some of them:ย

  1. Sabbath Moments
Give yourself one guilt-free hour a week to just be. It could even be an hour a day. No goals. No anxiety about tasks waiting for you.
Just you. Relish the moment. Focus on yourself. Appreciate who you are and who youโ€™re becoming.ย
  2. Sacred Starts
Before you touch your phone in the morning, touch your soul. Say something good to yourself: โ€œIโ€™m not behind. Iโ€™m right on time.โ€
Remind yourself of why you started, where you are right now, and the beautiful phase ahead of you. This helps you keep going, even when you feel overwhelmed.ย
  3. Digital Boundaries
Not every notification needs your energy. Be disciplined. Protect your focus. Silence the noise.
Donโ€™t be easily distracted or carried away. Not every reel, video, chat, or tweet needs your attention. Learn to identify frivolities, and deal with them.ย
  4. Celebrate the Little Pace
Did you finally finish a long-read book? Cook without rushing? Have an unhurried conversation? Thatโ€™s progress. Thatโ€™s life.
Finishing a book or accomplishing something without rushing isnโ€™t โ€œwastingโ€ time, itโ€™s living.ย

Itโ€™s not every time you need to be hard on time just to feel fulfilled. In fact, there are many details you miss or lose, when you rush. Taking your time doesnโ€™t mean wasting your time.ย
You donโ€™t have to move at lightning speed to matter. Your pace is valid. Your rhythm is enough. Do what you have to do with no pressure.ย
Delay is not denial. Silence is not absence. Waiting is not wasting. Sometimes you must delay things simply to do them later.ย
Other times, you need silence, quieting the noise in your heart, to gather fresh inspiration. Waiting and pausing are not wasting. Know the difference.ย

If youโ€™ve made it this far, youโ€™re choosing to live intentionally. Youโ€™re resisting the pressure to rush through your life. Youโ€™re choosing to behold what most people overlook.ย
The fact that you pause each week to read, reflect, and engage what is here matters. You are part of this community that is learning to reflect again every week.ย
Youโ€™re not just consuming content, youโ€™re living it. Youโ€™re not just passing time, youโ€™re beholding it.ย

So today, I honor your pace, your presence, and your process. You donโ€™t need to hurry to prove youโ€™re growing. The fact that youโ€™re still here, still showing up, is proof of growth in itself. Growth that is not just fast, but well.ย
And in case no one told you this today: You are not behind. Your pace is not a problem. There is time for what matters. Time is a gift, embrace it as one.ย
So go gently into this week. Live with your eyes open. Let go of the rush. And behold time, not as something to fight, but as a gift to carry.ย
This week, choose one day to move intentionally, one day at a time. Create a โ€œNot-To-Doโ€ list, things that drain your time and donโ€™t serve your purpose, and let them go.ย

I believe this has blessed you. I would love to hear your thoughts about this write-up. Drop your comments, views, lessons, and take-homes for me to read.
Thank you! See you again next week. Have a great week ahead.ย
